We played, we laughed
we were loved.
We were ripped from the arms of our
parents and thrown into the fire.
We were nothing more than children.
We had a future. We were going to be lawyers, rabbis, wives, teachers, mothers. We had dreams, then we had no hope. We were taken away in the dead of night like cattle in cars, no air to breathe smothering, crying, starving, dying. Separated from the world to be no more. From the ashes, hear our plea. This atrocity to mankind can not happen again. Remember us, for we were the children whose dreams and lives were stolen away.


a Holocaust Poem!! Something to think about 'n to remember!!

Yesterday I was with my best friend 'n we went to this local black grocery shop where I saw this strange looking meat stuff.I didn't know about most of the stuff 'n somehow I felt disgusted looking at all that meat.It looked stale 'n didn't look quite edible 'n it was eevrywhere in the shop.So I started reading the name of the kind of meats kept in the freezers.Chicken Drum sticks(chicken legs) Chicken Gizzard(inside of the chicken)Chicken wings,Turkey neck..'n so many more things.Then I saw Pig-Feet(eeewwwwwww) I said it pretty loud 'n unfortunately everyone in the shop heard it.Now I had some 6 pairs of eyes staring at me including my friends.Not to mention little kids in the shop.I said "Sorry" but who eats Pig-Feet,it's disgusting eewww.My friend said"some black folk do"
"Black people love Pig-Feet 'n they relish it's taste" she said.I cud' feel my stomach churning 'n my eye balls expanding in disgust.I asked "Why do U like Pig-Feet?" What she said next made me feel embarrassed,demeanoring,stupid 'n it made me feel sorry for my poor knowledge of history of food in the world 'n what it could mean to someone.Well my friend loves me 'n she knew that my words were honest when I said eeewwww."Don't worry" she said "U r not the only one who feels disgusted to know that black people eat Pig-Feet".I said I am really sorry I didn't mean to insult U or anyone around here.It's just that I never knew about Pig-Feet as food.
"It's alright Param" Black people eat Pig-Feet b'coz that's the only thing they were given to eat when they were slaves.My jaw dropped 'n I kinda hit my head with my fist (slightly) thinking how stupid of me to have said something without knowing the reason 'n logic behind it.
She said that the masters use to eat all the good parts of the meat 'n throw the feet or the neck part to their slaves 'n to satisfy their hunger 'n to survive the slaves ate the feet as they didn't have any other option.They use to give all the internal organs of chicken(left out or the waste meat) to the slaves (chicken gizzards).The slaves were sometimes given the rear-end of pig(pig's behind I mean its butt) coz the masters thought it to be ugly,nasty 'n not worth eating I felt bad 'n sorry for all the people who had to go thru' such disgusting Opression 'n discrimination on the basis of their skin colour,their race,their class 'n their socio-economic status.
